Boys tend to agree more often that their lives, in general, have changed as a result of the pandemic, either for the worse and they still do not feel they have recovered (12.7%), for the worse but everything is back to normal (25.1%), or for the better (23%). Women more often consider that their lives in general have changed little due to the pandemic (41.8%). Highlighting some of the relationships between the parameters assessed, age shows negatively correlates with most of the socio-emotional competencies. This suggests that as age increases, levels of optimism, emotional control, resilience, confidence, curiosity, sociability, persistence, creativity, energy, cooperation, and self-control tend to decrease. Year 12 in this 2024 series changes this evident pattern in 2022. The sub-scales of the Socio-Emotional Competence Scale show positive correlations with each other; for example, optimism is positively correlated with confidence, and curiosity is positively correlated with persistence and creativity. Bullying shows significant negative correlations with most of the socio-emotional skills variables, such as a sense of belonging to the school and cooperation. Test anxiety shows negative correlations with resilience and emotional control. These associations suggest avenues for preventive intervention against bullying and test anxiety by promoting these associated competencies. The subscales of the DASS-21 (Depression, Anxiety, and Stress) are significantly and negatively correlated with Socio-emotional Skills, suggesting clues for the preventive intervention of psychological distress by promoting these associated skills.
