Saúde Psicológica e Bem-estar | Observatório Escolar 30 Executive summary The analysis of the mediator effect of the school environment on the relationship between school management support and teachers' psychological well-being revealed that school management support was a significant predictor of the school environment and that both school management support and school environment were significant predictors of teachers' perceived well-being. However, after controlling for the school environment, school management support no longer predicted psychological well-being. Thus, the present study revealed that school management support had an effect on the school environment and that the school environment had a positive effect on psychological health. After controlling for the effect of the school environment, it was found that support from school management exerts a positive indirect effect on teachers' psychological well-being via school environment, indicating that support from school management has an indirect effect on teachers' psychological well-being via school environment. These findings indicate that teachers' psychological well-being and mental health, which should be a priority, are influenced by the school environment; consequently, communication and support from colleagues and organizational structure are of the utmost importance and should be considered when promoting teachers' mental health. Following these findings, recommendations are made for students, families, education, and health professionals, as well as for the sector's public policies, which are committed to mitigating the situation and preparing for future scenarios: anticipate, alert, and act.
